Tap, Jazz, and Lyrical are the 3 main styles Attitude Dance Project teaches.

TAP

Over 200 years of history and born from African dance and music.

Dancers are challenged to improve their musicality, strengthen their legs and feet, and create rhythms and beats like a drummer.

JAZZ

Same as tap, jazz dance is an American style with African roots. They share history.

Dancers are challenged to be athletes, use their technique and strength to perform highly demanding and creative pieces.

Attitude

While ballet is the foundation for lyrical technique, it isn't necessarily the cornerstone of all dance styles.

Ballet is a tool we can use to define moves, but we don't have to follow it to a tee.

LYRICAL

Lyrical was developed out of Modern, Ballet, and Jazz technique.

Dancers are challenged to find resistance and story in their movements.

Dancing to the lyrics of a song, dancers must act and feel so their audience can feel too.

Meet the Teacher

Hey there! I’m Alex Nadell and I’ve been a dance teacher since 2014.

I’m from the Bay Area in California and started dancing at age three.

I started–as one does– with ballet at a rec center, but when I moved to a studio, I did tap.

I had an instant connection with tap dance and each year after that I added on a new style: jazz, ballet (again), lyrical, hip hop. My dance education was really well-rounded, but my favorites were tap and jazz.
