Tap, Jazz, and Lyrical are the 3 main styles Attitude Dance Project teaches.

TAP

Over 200 years of history and born from African dance and music.

Dancers are challenged to improve their musicality, strengthen their legs and feet, and create rhythms and beats like a drummer.

JAZZ

Same as tap, jazz dance is an American style with African roots. They share history.

Dancers are challenged to be athletes, use their technique and strength to perform highly demanding and creative pieces.

While ballet is the foundation for lyrical technique, it isn't necessarily the cornerstone of all dance styles.

Ballet is a tool we can use to define moves, but we don't have to follow it to a tee.

LYRICAL

Lyrical was developed out of Modern, Ballet, and Jazz technique.

Dancers are challenged to find resistance and story in their movements.

Dancing to the lyrics of a song, dancers must act and feel so their audience can feel too.

Meet the Teacher

Hey there! I’m Alex Nadell, I’ve been a dance teacher since 2014 and I’m a member of NDEO, the National Dance Education Organization

I started dancing at the age of 3 at a small studio and eventually made it onto my D3 university’s dance team, competing in regional and collegiate competitions along the way. I’m an “extroverted” introvert so smaller teams suited me pretty well and I never wanted to go the professional dancer route like some of my peers. Teaching really called to me.

After graduating university, I started teaching dance. From the littles to teens to adults, from absolute beginner to advanced, from classes of 2 to classes of 20+, I’ve taught a huge range of students in tap, jazz, lyrical, ballet, and hip hop.

Now, my passion is teaching tap, jazz, and lyrical technique to the people who most want to learn. I am challenging the traditional dance school model to create something new. Think Debbie Allen Dance Academy mixed with Jacob’s Pillow mixed with Krista Miller’s The Space.
